Binoculars

Overview

Binoculars are by far, the best and most cost effective instrument for any person wishing to begin astronomy as a hobby. The upright image and wide field of view allows a person to become acquainted with the sky in a natural manner. Technically, binoculars are simpler to operate than a telescope and are definitely much more portable. A night scanning the Milky Way with a low power pair of binoculars can render views that a telescope could ever reproduce. Double stars, open clusters, globular clusters, galaxies and comets are just a few of the objects that can be seen with a pair of binoculars.

All of the binoculars listed below have been used during one or more observing sessions in the observation log, with the 20x70 binoculars being the most widely used. With these binoculars I have completed the Astronomical League Messier Binocular and Astronomical League Deep Sky Binocular certificate requirements.
